Common questions
What is a nursing brain sheet?
A nursing brain sheet, also called a nurse report sheet, is a single printed page a nurse carries through a shift to track each patient. It usually holds the room and name, diagnosis, code status and allergies, a body systems assessment area, medications and times, labs, lines and drips, and a running to-do list. Nurses fill it in during handoff report and write on it all shift.
Is it free?
Yes. It is free during beta, needs no account or signup, and your sheets are stored in your own browser rather than on a server. Nothing you type is uploaded anywhere.
How many patients fit on one sheet?
Between one and six patients on a single letter-size page. One patient gives a full page of detail, which suits ICU and critical care. Four to six per page suits a med-surg or telemetry assignment. You can switch the count at any time and the layout re-flows to fit.
Can I edit the sheet?
Every field is editable. Rename any label, task, or column by clicking it. Drag boxes to reorder or resize them. Change what a box contains: ruled lines, a checklist, write-in fields, a table, or a med times table. Add boxes from a library of vitals, I&O, blood sugars, neuro checks, precautions, SBAR and more. Anything can be undone.
Is there an SBAR version?
Yes. There is a dedicated SBAR handoff sheet with situation, background, assessment and recommendation bands, and SBAR can be added to any sheet as a section.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser on a phone, tablet, or computer, with no install. Sheets print on a standard US letter page in portrait or landscape.
